Eric will perform a program of primarily 19th century music, including his own arrangement of a violin sonata by French Romantic composer Benjamin Godard (1849 – 1895), as well as works by Francois de Fossa (1775-1849), Johann Kaspar Mertz 1806-1856), Luigi Legnani (1790-1877), Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885-1944). Eric will also perform arrangements of baroque keyboard sonatas by C.P.E. Bach (1714-1788) and Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757), and premier his own composition, “Passacaglia,” a baroque musical form in which variations are played over a continual repeated bass line.
Eric Roth specializes in historical instruments and repertoire. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from SUNY New Paltz and has received lessons or master classes from Gohar Vardanyan, David Starobin, Kenneth Meyer, David Temple, Patrick O’Brien, Bill Matthews, Bonnie Robiczek Meadow, Gregory Dinger, and Paul Sweeny. Eric frequently performs at public and private venues throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond. Eric serves as a board member of the Mid-Hudson Classical Guitar Society and as president of the Poné Ensemble for New Music, New Paltz, New York. He holds a Master’s Degree in Library Science from SUNY Albany and has worked for Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz. Eric currently works at Mohonk Preserve in New Paltz, NY as Grants Manager.
