Millerton Pedestrian Plan Project - Open House

August 3, 2017

The Village of Millerton Pedestrian Plan project team will hold an open house on Thursday, August 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the NorthEast-Millerton Library Annex (28 Century BLVD) to gather input from residents on issues related to pedestrian safety and access, and to discuss ways to make the village more pedestrian-friendly.

“We encourage everyone to come to this open house,” said Mayor Debbie Middlebrook. “Drop in whenever you can and share your ideas for making Millerton safer and more accessible for walking! The more people we hear from, the better our pedestrian plan will be.”

A local Task Force is currently working with the Dutchess County Transportation Council (DCTC) on a Pedestrian Plan for the Village. The Pedestrian Plan will focus on improving the Village's walkable, pedestrian-friendly center to enhance safety and access for residents and visitors. The plan will also address the adjoining commercial area of the Town along Route 44.

Based on input received at the open house, discussions with the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and presentations to local officials, the project team will develop a prioritized set of recommendations. The plan is intended to help the Village identify priorities, develop funding applications, and implement projects. The plan will also assist agencies with prioritizing work on state, county, and local roads in the Village.

The project is funded through the DCTC’s federal planning program, at no cost to the Village. More information about the plan is available on the DCTC website at:
